Pocatello Transportation

Pocatello enjoys an outstanding infrastructure for a metro of its size. And with high-tech traffic lights you'll find efficient and responsive, getting in and around Pocatello is a snap. Citizens and tourists are also serviced by a public bus system, two interstates, and a regional airport.

Pocatello Regional Transit (PRT) bus

Public Bus System

Pocatello Regional Transit (PRT) buses serve a large portion of southeast Idaho. It currently operates 25 routes in 4 categories: fixed, demand response, rural, and special service. The fixed urban route system generates 87 percent of ridership. Among the fleet are two trolleys, which are used for fixed routes and special events. Outside the "free fare zones" (ISU and the west side of downtown), rides are just 60 cents for adults and 30 cents for students.

Interstates

Pocatello is situated at the junction of I-15 and I-86, making it well suited for travels throughout the Intermountain West. Idaho Falls is a 45-minute drive on I-15 North; Salt Lake City is just 2 hrs. and 15 min. on I-15 South; and Boise just over 3 hours on I-86 West.

Regional Airport

Located a few miles west of town off I-86, the Pocatello Regional Airport offers convenient air travel right from Pocatello. Skywest Airlines (Delta) services the airport with daily departures to the Salt Lake International Airport where you can walk straight to your connecting flight. Flying from the Pocatello airport is a joy! Parking is FREE, and lines are short—when there are any at all. Formerly a World War II Army Air Base, the airport has been modernized and features an upstairs windowed room for watching planes take off and land.
