Through the Homeowners Tax Exemption program, tax payers who use their home as their primary residence qualify for a tax reduction by filing with the Bannock County Assessors office. The taxable portion of the assessed value of the property is reduced by the lesser of $100,938 or 50 percent of the combined value of the home and land up to one acre.For example, a home on a quarter-acre lot with a county appraised value of $250,000 would be taxed at the rate of a $149,062 property. According to the 2005 tax levies, a tax payer living in the City of Pocatello could expect the following savings on the example property:
